Planned Parenthood Pushes Sex and Illinois FOCA

Posted by Corrina Gura (February 11, 2010 at 2:12 pm)

plannedparenthoodsexedThe only thing I think I’ve ever learned about sex from TV is that it is pleasurable. And yet, somehow, Planned Parenthood thinks children have missed out on that factoid, and they need to be explicitly taught this in schools—beginning at age 10, according to a new study by the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

While God certainly created sex for pleasure, as John Paul II’s Theology of the Body teaches us, there’s more to it than that. Much, much more. And when it is separated from the bond of Holy Matrimony (and from an attitude of mutual self giving), the pleasure is fleeting and hardly amounts to much—and it’s more than outweighed by the risk of lifelong and even deadly STDs, out of wedlock pregnancies, and emotional devastation after he/she (almost inevitably) leaves you.

Just “Accept” It?

Bert Koenders, Minister for Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, writes in his introduction [pdf] to the study: “The whole world needs to accept that many young people, married and unmarried, are sexually active.” [Continue reading ...]

Abstinence Education Works

Posted by John Jansen (February 5, 2010 at 1:50 pm)

duhIf you asked 100 people at random if they believed abstinence education is effective, most of them would probably say no.

Most would probably say that teaching abstinence is “unrealistic”, that it doesn’t work, and that schools should instead be teaching so-called “comprehensive” sex education.

A big part of the reason why so many people believe abstinence education is ineffective is because its opponents—not the least of which are the major players in the abortion industry and other pro-abortion choice organizations—have been relentlessly tub-thumping for years trying to convince people that it is so, such that it’s now one of those things that “everybody knows”.

And most mainstream media outlets have carried water for them every step of the way.

So ingrained in popular consciousness is this idea that when the Washington Post reported on a “landmark” study released Monday that demonstrated remarkable comparative effectiveness of abstinence education vs. so-called “comprehensive” sex education, they couldn’t bring themselves to fully admit what the research showed.

Abstinence Education Doesn’t Work. Or Does It?

Posted by John Jansen (May 12, 2009 at 1:20 pm)

This week League staffers are busy finalizing plans for our protest of President Obama’s appearance at Notre Dame’s commencement this Sunday.

The North Side, South Side, and Western Suburbs buses are full, and a second bus that’s been added from the North Side is filling up fast. If you need a seat, call the League between 9:00 and 5:00 at 773-777-2900, or register here.

Fr. Pavone to Lead Alternate Commencement at Notre Dame

We also learned this week that Father Frank Pavone will be leading a concurrent alternate commencement this Sunday.

Pro-Lifers Very Pleased with Palin

Posted by Joe Scheidler (August 29, 2008 at 12:40 pm)

Republican Presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain’s selection of Alaska’s young Governor, Sarah Palin, for his vice presidential running mate surprised nearly everyone, and perhaps even McCain, who wouldn’t have believed this would be his selection up to a few days ago.

Funeral Mass for Aborted Babies in Detroit

Posted by John Jansen (May 2, 2008 at 3:06 pm)

Our longtime friend Monica Miller of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society reports that on Saturday, May 3, 2008 the Archdiocese of Detroit will provide a funeral Mass and burial for 25 aborted babies retrieved from the trash dumpsters behind Woman Care abortion clinics owned and operated by notorious abortionist Alberto Hodari.

College Pro-Lifers Show Grit

Posted by John Jansen (April 3, 2008 at 3:17 pm)

The UCLA pro-life student group Live Action has just released the second video in a series exposing Planned Parenthood’s racism. As in the first video, the group had an actor call Planned Parenthood clinics in various states and asked if he could make a donation for the express purpose of paying for a black baby’s abortion, and, in most cases, Planned Parenthood staffers were by all means willing to accept the blood money.

“Punished with a Baby”?

Posted by John Jansen (April 1, 2008 at 3:19 pm)

Word is slowly getting around about a telling remark Barack Obama made at a campaign stop this Saturday in Johnstown, PA. (Although considering his support for live-birth abortion, it’s not at all surprising.)

Abstinence Education IS Working

Posted by Joe Scheidler (November 12, 2007 at 2:23 pm)

A weird story on the Chicago Tribune news services says there is not presently any strong evidence that “abstinence-only” programs are working.

Abstinence Education Is Working

A report supposedly based on a review of the research that has been done, released by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, assures us that efforts to promote abstinence appear to have little positive impact.

Hyde Gets Presidential Medal of Freedom

Posted by Joe Scheidler (November 5, 2007 at 2:26 pm)

Illinois’ favorite son, Congressman Henry Hyde, received the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Tuesday from President George Bush.

A Well-Deserved Honor for Hyde

Hyde, in Illinois recovering from heart bypass surgery, could not be at the White House for the ceremony, but his son Robert received the medal for him. Hyde, 82, served 32 years in Congress, is retired, and received the medal primarily for his strong support for human life.

He is best known for the Hyde Amendment that cut off federal funding for most abortions. This was passed in the late 70′s and has been modified several times, but continues to restrict federal money for abortions.

Send Thanks to Courageous Bishop Regali

Posted by Joe Scheidler (June 18, 2007 at 5:21 pm)

We praised the Philadelphia City Council on our weekend Action News for reversing an earlier vote by them to label Philadelphia a “Pro-Choice City.” The original vote was 9-8 in favor of the phony title, but after a raking over by Philadelphia Archbishop Justin Regali and many others, the Council voted again and rejected the title 13-4.
