Walk for Life West Coast

Nearly 8,000 pro-lifers took part in the first annual Walk for Life West Coast along San Francisco’s waterfront on January 22. Among those leading the Walk were Archbishop William Levada of San Francisco and an honor guard of female students from local universities.

The Walk was held despite the condemnation of the San Francisco board of supervisors, who declared that the “anti-choice minority [sic]” was “not welcome here.” Georgette Forney, president of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, responded that “if the supervisors really cared about women they would provide pregnancy centers and provide real choices for women.”

President Bush Faces the Truth

The stalwarts of Missionaries to the Preborn, led by Pastor Matt Trewhella, gave our nation’s most powerful leaders their own private Face the Truth Tour on the eve of the thirty-second anniversary of Roe v. Wade. For half a mile the group displayed pictures of an aborted baby accompanied by the words, “God Bless America?” as a motorcade drove by that included President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and Secretary of State Rice.

One hopes that having witnessed the awful truth of abortion, our president will be more boldly pro-life during his second term.

CLOSED: Three Massachusetts Abortion Facilities

Operation Rescue Boston is pleased to report that the Repro Associates abortion facility in Brookline, MA is now closed. On its last day of business, Brookline police entered the facility and emerged two hours later carrying a file folder.

ORB reports that two other abortion facilities in Hyannis and New Bedford also appear to be closed. The facilities, owned by notorious abortionist Howard Silverman, had combined tax liens exceeding $150,000.

ORB had dogged Silverman’s mills for years through public protest, sidewalk counseling and pro-lifers’ greatest weapon, prayer.

La Quinta Backs Down

Operation Rescue West recently uncovered evidence that late-term abortionist George Tiller was using the La Quinta Inn in Wichita, KS as a labor annex to his abortion facility. Tiller had even maintained a full-time nursing staff on site to medicate and monitor women who had begun the 3-4 day abortion process.

On January 18, ORW President Troy Newman called for a national boycott of La Quinta Inns until they stopped allowing Tiller to use their facilities. The boycott worked. Within two weeks, the chain’s corporate offices notified Tiller that he must immediately stop the illegal practice, and could no longer use La Quinta’s name to promote his abortion business.
