Pro-Life Action League Applauds 5th Circuit Abortion Pill Ruling

Last night a three judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling in the abortion pill case, Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA. In response, Pro-Life Action League executive director Eric Scheidler offers the following comments:

I applaud the Fifth Circuit panel’s ruling that rolls back the dangerous changes the FDA has made since 2016 over how the abortion drug mifepristone is dispensed. In particular, the court pushed back against the agency’s claim that this drug is safe, noting the absurdity of making such claims after ceasing to require the reporting of all harmful effects of the abortion drug.

The CEOs of Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid must be breathing a sigh of relief today, after foolishly wading into the abortion controversy earlier this year to say they would dispense mifespristone at their pharmacies — a decision which led to months of protests from groups like the Pro-Life Action League. Yesterday’s ruling means these pharmacies will no longer be allowed to dispense abortion drugs, eliminating the horrifying prospect of neighborhood drug stores throughout the country becoming abortion facilities.
