WHY: Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi espouse extreme and inhumane positions on abortion that are far out of step with the views of most Americans. Historically, the Democrats have claimed to watch out for “the little guy,” but there’s no “little guy” more vulnerable than an unborn baby.
PRESIDENT OBAMA ON ABORTION:
Is regarded one of the country’s fiercest defenders of abortion. As an Illinois state senator Obama twice voted against bills that would have “defined any aborted fetus that showed signs of life as a ‘born alive infant’ entitled to legal protection.” President Obama’s abortion positions have been dubbed as extreme and he has opposed curbs on even “the most horrific” abortion practices (USA Today).
Is the first sitting president to address a Planned Parenthood event. Obama defiantly defends government funding for the nation’s largest abortion provider and regularly decries efforts to require the abortion industry to adhere to the most basic medical standards (Washington Times).
Boasted about his administration’s support for Planned Parenthood’s radical abortion agenda, even though the nation was watching in horror as abortionist Kermit Gosnell was tried for murder for snipping the spines of live babies who survived attempted abortions (Christian Science Monitor).
Despite his repeated mantra that when it comes to a woman’s health, “no politician should get to decide what’s best for you,” his Obamacare has mandated that all Americans buy health insurance through an exchange program that makes it extremely difficult to avoid plans covering abortion, and has forced employers to provide free abortion-inducing drugs in their health plans (The Atlantic).
DEMOCRATIC HOUSE LEADER PELOSI ON ABORTION:
Supports Partial Birth Abortion, a procedure closely aligned with the methods employed by abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who was convicted of first degree murder for killing babies who had survived botched abortions (House.gov).
Claims to be a devout Catholic, despite holding a staunchly pro-abortion stance in direct contradiction to Catholic teaching (House.gov).
Has been publicly criticized by Catholic church leaders for ignoring the unequivocal Catholic teaching that abortion is unjust and gravely evil (Reuters).
Claims falsely that the women who use Planned Parenthood will not have health care of any kind if taxpayer funding for America’s biggest abortion provider is cut off (House.gov), despite the fact that Planned Parenthood records profits of over $300 million per year (half of it from abortions) (Planned Parenthood).
