Joan AndrewsToday in League HistoryApril 15, 1988—While on a speaking trip to Baltimore, League Director Joe Scheidler drives to Claymont, Delaware, to visit pro-life activist and heroine Joan Andrews (pictured right) in jail. Joe encourages her to sign a document acknowledging that she trespassed when she entered an abortion clinic. Andrews could effect her release by signing the admission, but refuses, saying that her actions did not constitute the crime of trespass, since her objective was to save lives.
