January 12, 1982—Chicago abortionist Ida Garcia goes to trial for macing two pro-lifers during a peaceful sit-in the previous year. Judge John Laurie (pictured left) finds Garcia guilty of assault and battery, and order that she be fined and placed under court supervision for one year. League Director Joe Scheidler reports that the pro-lifers involved are satisfied with the verdict and vows to take any abortionist to court who assaults peaceful pro-lifers in the future.
