Joe Remembers Tom Roeser

Tom Roeser

One of the thickest folders I have in my file cabinet is labeled “Roeser, Tom.” Tom was a prolific writer on politics and the Church, as well as a stalwart conservative activist and valued friend.

At one of our pickets back in the 1970’s, Tom held a large sign quoting Scripture on the unborn child, but which fit him to a tee: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Ps 139:14). And so he was.

When I spoke with Tom shortly before he died on May 29, he assured me that heart failure would not slow him down. That was Tom: working up to the last minute of his life trying to straighten out a world gone mad.

God rest the soul of this man, who was so “fearfully and wonderfully made.”
