Planned Parenthood’s Mother’s Day Appeal

mothersday2This morning, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards sent an e-mail to supporters encouraging them to celebrate Mother’s Day by — how else? — giving money to Planned Parenthood:

Supporter — It’s almost Mother’s Day … and if you have a mother in your life who’s anything like me or my mom (the late Texas Governor Ann Richards), then you know nothing would make her happier than a gift that represents bold and compassionate values. Like a gift in her honor to Planned Parenthood Federation of America. We’ve made it quick and easy — and we’ve even made it pretty.

“Bold and Compassionate Values?”

Aside from the sinister irony of the fact that Planned Parenthood makes its millions by annually depriving 300,000 women of the gift motherhood by killing their unborn children, you can’t help but wonder what Richards means by “bold and compassionate values”. A willingness to accept racist donations earmarked to kill black babies, perhaps? Or maybe covering up child sexual abuse? How about libeling your opponents by publicly claiming they have a “well-documented history of advocating violence”? Planned Parenthood’s message continues: mothersday_31

Give to Pregnancy Resource Centers Instead

To counter Planned Parenthood’s shameless plea for donations, why not instead give a gift in your mother’s honor to a group that will really provides mothers with the education, care, and advocacy that helps them thrive? Make a donation to a pregnancy resource center near you, or to Option Line or the National Life Center — both are non-profit services that operate 24-hour hotlines that connect callers to local pregnancy resource centers that can help women deal with an untimely pregnancy or deal with the aftermath of abortion. You can donate to Option Line via their online donations page, and to the National Life Center via the “Donate” button on their homepage.
