Marshall Fields LogoToday in League HistoryNovember 23, 1990—Sixty League volunteers picket the iconic Marshall Fields store on State Street in downtown Chicago on “Black Friday” over the decision of Fields’ parent company, the Dayton-Hudson Corporation, to reinstate funding for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. Dayton-Hudson had previously stopped funding Planned Parenthood, but reversed their decision under pressure from pro-abortion groups. The Chicago protest—one of many nationwide that day—gets excellent media coverage.
