Joe in BelfastToday in League HistoryOctober 18, 2008—League Directors Joe and Eric Scheidler speak at a Rally for Life in Belfast, Northern Ireland, organized by Bernie Smyth of Precious Life to oppose an effort by pro-abortion Members of Parliament in England to extend Britain’s 1967 abortion law into Northern Ireland. Armed with umbrellas against the frequent rain, a crowd of thousands attends the rally in front of the Stormont building, seat of the Northern Ireland Assembly. Joe warns Ireland of the devastation legal abortion brings and Eric praises the Irish for giving hope to all those fighting to keep abortion out of their communities. Before returning the the U.S., the Scheidlers would learn the move to expand abortion to Northern Ireland had been dropped.
