The Pro-Life Action League’s 2010 “Face the Truth” campaign got off to a great start yesterday in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.

The two-site tour visited Mokena, Illinois and Orland Park, Illinois bringing graphic pictures that show the truth about abortion to the quiet suburban towns. Blessings of great weather and a fantastic turnout made the day a great success.

League Executive Director Eric Scheidler and I micro-blogged the entire day and you can check out the feeds from Twitter and Facebook to see the play-by-play from both sites. Also, you can follow the Twitter hashtag #truth2010 where we will be tweeting all our “Face the Truth” activities throughout the year.

Great Turnout and Moving Stories in Mokena

At the first site in Mokena, Illinois the weather couldn’t have been better. Construction on all four corners of the intersection of Wolf Road and Route 30 made things a little difficult, but construction crews were amicable and primarily concerned for Tour staff and volunteer’s safety.

All 28 signs we brought for the day were deployed and temperatures in the upper 60s kept everyone in good spirits. There were several first-time volunteers including a mailman who had seen the League’s postcard announcing the Truth Day in mail he was delivering to someone on his route. He took note of the information and came to join us!

About halfway through the site, a woman pulled over and talked to League Vice President Ann Scheidler. She said she had been a teenage mother and considered abortion but was so glad she hadn’t. She was so grateful for the work the League was doing to expose the truth that she bought donuts for the tour participants.

In Orland Park, all 28 signs were displayed again as well as several “Stop Abortion NOW” picket signs. It was great to see the familiar faces of many stalwart “Face the Truth” regulars along with some new folks.

I’m encouraged by this great start to our 2010 “Face the Truth” season. Keep your eye on the blog as well as the Tours page where we post the itineraries for upcoming “Face the Truth” Days to be sure you know when the next opportunity to show the truth will be.
