Zoning Board to take up PP questions November 28

PP under constructionI’ve just received word that the Aurora Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) has set a hearing date for our appeal on zoning questions surrounding Planned Parenthood’s approvals to build and occupy their Abortion Fortress. The hearing will be November 28 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. I’d like to see a huge crowd of concerned citizens at the ZBA hearing—the first time since our campaign began that the Planned Parenthood issue is actually on the agenda of an official city meeting. To get an idea of how many people will be there, I’ve set up the poll below. Please indicate whether or not you plan attend the ZBA hearing.

Among the issues to be addressed is the special use permit question, which was never adequately addressed in the so-called investigation Mayor Weisner manipulated to justify giving Planned Parenthood their occupancy permit. The November 28 ZBA hearing is just the first step in what may be a very long legal battle over what we believe to be serious zoning ordinance violations by Planned Parenthood—and possibly by the City of Aurora as well. I suspect the case will wind up in state court, but the ZBA hearing is an important first step, when we will formally present our case and city zoning officials will respond to our questions for the first time. Please try to be there if you can make it.
