O, Mama—Not Obama!

On Saturday, February 10, John and I and a caravan of Pro-Life Action League members drove down to Springfield, IL to join other pro-lifers and demonstrate against Barack Obama’s staunch support for abortion. Obama was there with a crowd of as many as 10,000 supporters to launch his presidential campaign. A group of four Springfield high school and junior high students joined the protest. They’re pictured here (you can click on the picture for a larger version)—(from left) Hilary, Samantha, Jessica and Mark. I hope I’ve got that right—it was so cold that the pen I was using to write down their names didn’t really work, and I might have Jessica and Samantha backwards. One of the most powerful moments of the entire protest, to my mind, came when Jessica, during an interview with a news reporter, said that abortion was a very personal issue for her. “People told my mom to get an abortion when she was pregnant with me,” she explained. That really says it all. You can read more about the protest here and Jill Stanek has a post on the protest with lots of pictures here.
