Abortion Is Down in the Home State of “Face the Truth”

First off, folks from Illinois should contact Illinois senators Dick Durbin and Barack Obama and tell them to vote “NO” on Senate Bill 5, legislation to use our hard-earned tax dollars to pay for embryonic stem cell research that destroys the lives of fellow human beings.

Call Durbin at 202-224-2152 in Washington D.C. or locally at 312-353-4952. For Obama call 202-224-2854 for Washinngton DC or locally at 312-886-3506.

Tell Your Senator: Vote NO on SB5

American readers outside Illinois should contact your senators to scuttle Senate Bill 5 that could come up for a vote any time. Do it now.

It is a shame that we have to beg our legislators not to use our money on human experiments, but that’s about the size of it. As a nation we have sunk to a new low. They aren’t voting not to do the experiments, because they are going on as we speak. Our calls are to ask them not to allow our tax dollars to fund these lethal experiments.

Scientists are already extracting parts of live human beings in vane attempts to cure diseases, as though the end justifies the means. And speaking of ends, none of these experiments on live human embryonic stem cells has brought about a single cure, and probably never will.

But even if they did result in cures, you just can’t kill innocent human beings to benefit other human beings. If someone wants to risk his life for another person, fine, but it has to be a voluntary act on the part of the one sacrificing his life. We can’t volunteer for a third party.

Abortion Down in Home of Face the Truth

There’s good news out of Wisconsin. For the past ten years we have been pointing to our neighbor to the north as to what can happen in the abortion battle when nearly everyone in the state has been introduced to the graphic abortion pictures.

We visited Matt Trewhella’s Tell the Truth tour about ten years ago and were so impressed with his long lines of large pictures of aborted babies, his massive leaflet program and reports of how many cities, towns and villages Tell the Truth activists had visited, that we brought the program back to Illinois where we have been doing the same with our much larges population.

Now we see some of the fruits of this program as the report out of Wisconsin shows the number of women who had abortions in 2006 is down for the third straight year and the lowest level on record. Wisconsin’s eight abortions per 1,000 women of child bearing age is just half the national rate of 15 abortions per 1,000 women of child bearing age.

Naturally, everyone is taking credit for the drop, even pro-aborts who say greater access to birth control is the reason, when in fact birth control only increases abortions. At least 57 percent of women having abortions are on birth control when they become pregnant. Pro-lifers say laws requiring a 24-hour waiting period and informed consent caused the decline. They may be partly right.

But our bet is that the greater knowledge of what abortion does to its victim is the main reason for the drop in abortions, and we give credit to Matt and his activists who have covered the state and now travel the country with their witness.

If you want to be part of the effort to decrease abortions in Illinois, join our monthly Face the Truth Tours and especially our ten-day tour this July 7 through 17. Let’s bring down the numbers of abortions right here in Illinois.

New Future for Rescue Tactics?

Shortly after Fr. Norman Weslan was found “not guilty” following a FACE violation charge in Omaha, NB, thirty pro-lifers from Survivors United held a rescue at an abortuary in Westminster, PA. Under the direction of Mark Houck, the group conducted a sit-in blocking the doors of a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic.

Only two of the activists were cited with trespassing, while the clinic, which had scheduled twenty abortions, closed for the day. Three women were talked out of having abortions. One pro-lifer was hit by a car driven by an abortion supporter. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital but was released.

Watch for more action on the abortion front as various groups seem to be returning to Operation Rescue tactics, especially sit-ins. Rumors are that several such peaceful sit-ins are planned for the summer and fall.
