Rod Blagojevich Holds Democracy in Contempt

Even his Republican opponent Judy Bar Topinka can see right through Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. She says he does not respect the process of state government that already exists, and comments, “Sorry, he wasn’t elected king. He’s got to go back to the legislature.” Topinka faults him for his habit of using his unilateral executive authority instead of using the process by which our established form of representative government works.

Emperor Blagojevich and Plan B

All this is in regard to his firm determination to make “Plan B,” the powerful and dangerous abortion pill being touted as “emergency contraception,” an over-the-counter product by means of his own “fiat” if the Federal Drug Administration or the Illinois State Legislature won’t do his bidding. On Wednesday, Blago said making the pill available to all comers without a prescription is “the right thing to do.”

We have to wonder where Blago studied his moral theology, because his conclusion does not follow any form of truth or right reason that we have ever come across. It’s the right thing to do if you don’t care about people’s immortal souls, their physical health, the future of society or the divine positive law. Sure, let them get doctored up with double doses of estrogen to ruin their health and possibly abort their children, and let them carry the doubt and depression of never knowing for sure if they had already conceived and did in fact kill a child. It’s the right thing to do if you care nothing about your responsibility toward your fellow man and his eternal destiny, and God’s plan for the human race.

In short, it is exactly the wrong thing to do.

Blago is a poor excuse for a leader. He is pragmatic, materialistic and doesn’t have a clue as to what a good official is supposed to be. We feel sorry for him because he is going down fast.

Invitation to Blagojevich

To try to help him correct this slide into obscurity we have written the following invitation:

Dear Gov. Blagojevich, I would like for you to be my special guest at our pro-life conference in Rosemont, IL on September 22 and 23. The conference is entitled, “Contraception Is Not the Answer.” It features eight experts on the dangerous and evil consequences of artificial birth control, proving that contraception is a real plague to society and is not a benefit. We have carefully selected speakers from all over this country and from England, and I assure you that after this conference many people who now support contraception will be convinced that it is destroying our society both physically and morally.

If you cannot make the conference yourself, we urge you to send a representative to report to you after the conference. This is the first national anti-contraception conference in recent years, and it will be a truly historic event. I have included a “Contraception Is Not the Answer” brochure with the pertinent information. Please let me know if you or your representative can attend.

That letter was sent to Blago August 9. It is a sincere invitation. He desperately needs to attend this conference and learn something about the true evil nature of contraception that take away human dignity, responsibility, and kills the consciences of millions.

Do we think he will show? No, of course not, since he most probably lacks the wisdom to make a good decision like attending it. But he has been invited, the offer to expose him to the truth has been made, and it’s up to him to decide whether to learn the truth, or go on living in culpable ignorance.

We hate for people who think they’re doing “the right thing” to discover too late that they’ve been doing the wrong thing all along. But if he should attend this informative and instructive conference, so should most Catholics and mainline Protestants and an even a lot of priests, rabbis and ministers of the Gospel, who have been instructed to teach the truth and not just whatever they feel like teaching.
