Well-Funded Pro-Aborts vs. the Pro-Life Philippines

Posted by John Jansen (September 13, 2011 at 4:22 pm)

For many years, pro-abortion advocates in the Western world have tried, and failed, to get the Philippines to pass the so-called Reproductive Health (RH) bill.

If passed, the RH bill would, among other things, massively expand the presence of contraception and force medical professionals and businesses to provide them in spite of any conscientious objections. In this largely Catholic country, that hasn’t gone over well, and that’s why Filipinos continue to overwhelmingly oppose it.

But the pro-RH forces aren’t done trying to get the bill passed, and with seemingly endless streams of cash continuing to come into the country, the bill is closer to being passed than ever before, despite the fact that one pro-RH congresswoman has actually admitted that it is intended to be a population control measure, and the recent confirmation via Wikileaks that the U.S. government — which, in what should come as a surprise to no one, officially supports the RH bill — has been funding population control measures in the Philippines for the past 40 years.

While the RH bill would not legalize abortion — not yet, anyway — it’s bleeding obvious that the other measures in the bill would amount to the camel’s nose getting under the tent, and the legalization of abortion would sooner or later follow. Groups like the International Planned Parenthood Federation are the ones pouring money into supporting the RH bill. Surely they won’t stop until abortion is legalized.

I was recently interviewed about the RH bill for an article that appeared on the website of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. You can read the article here.

Please write to Brad Trost and Stephen Harper to oppose Canada’s funding to IPPF. The Tories are conservatives and they hold a majority government in Canada. See the article below:
