After the grueling heat of August, the protest of Planned Parenthood in Aurora, Illinois in the mild September air was a welcome change of pace.

Pro-lifers gathered outside the Midwest’s largest abortion facility at 9 a.m., as they have every month for nearly three years.

It’s interesting to see what a routine folks have settled into after such a long time of protesting. Our stalwart protesters know just which sign they like to hold and where the picket line should go. Some have even picked up on the little tricks for keeping the picket line full when there are gaps from people walking at different speeds. It really is a well-oiled machine that keeps the clinic’s presence in our town on everybody’s mind.

Planned Parenthood Would Love To Hide—Pro-Life Protest Exposes Them

Planned Parenthood would like nothing more than to recede into the background of Aurora’s public life. After all, most people don’t know where their local abortion clinic is. If they need the “services” Planned Parenthood provides, they’ll look them up on the internet or in the phone book—they don’t need to be a visually high-profile business.

But when 50 to 100 people are protesting outside your business every month for three years, you just can’t hide. New York Street, where the clinic sits, is a main artery between Aurora and neighboring Naperville, so hundreds of cars see this protest every single month, as well as the regular prayer and sidewalk counseling presence there on a daily basis. We do everything we can to ensure that Aurora knows exactly what’s going on behind closed doors at Planned Parenthood.

I was keeping an eye on the weather satellite video on my phone since I had seen earlier that there was a pretty big storm heading toward us from the west. As it got closer to our 10 o’clock end time, it began to sprinkle and some menacing lighting flashed across the sky.

Dark clouds were moving in and it was clearly time to wrap things up. Lots of prayers were going up for good weather as we protested, and the Lord was kind and held the rain off until just after we packed up our signs and wrapped up with an Our Father.

It was another great protest with the Fox Valley’s most dedicated pro-lifers and I’m proud to have been a part of it. If you’d like more information on how you can protest abortion in your community, send me an e-mail: matt@prolifeaction.org.
