November 23, 1990—Sixty League volunteers picket the iconic Marshall Fields store on State Street in downtown Chicago on “Black Friday” over the decision of Fields’ parent company, the Dayton-Hudson Corporation, to reinstate funding for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. Dayton-Hudson had previously stopped funding Planned Parenthood, but reversed their decision under pressure from pro-abortion groups. The Chicago protest—one of many nationwide that day—gets excellent media coverage.
