School Bus with Pro-Life Messages Firebombed in Rockford, IL

It isn’t everyday you read about a school bus being firebombed.

But that’s the news I saw when I looked at an email this morning from Kevin Rilott, a longtime pro-life activist in Rockford, Illinois.

Kevin provided a link to a story on Pro-Life Corner:

A large school bus, owned by Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy, that is well known throughout Rockford for its beautiful pro-life pictures and words asking people to “pray to end abortion”, was fire bombed on Friday night. The damage was extensive to the bus as windows were broken in on both sides and fire bombs were thrown inside to cause maximum damage

Take a look at the video below to see footage of the inside of the bus and you’ll see that the words “maximum damage” are no exaggeration.

Clearly, as an article in the Rockford Register Star indicates, the bus is far beyond repair and will have to be replaced.

This certainly isn’t the first time the pro-life community of Rockford has suffered vandalism — to say nothing of the sinister bizarreness that for the past several years has characterized the now-closed Northern Illinois Women’s Center abortion facility — but it is surely the most disturbing.

Firebombing a school bus seems to rise a few notches above plain old, vanilla evil. One has to wonder: if the perpetrators are caught, and assuming that this crime was, in fact, ideologically driven, will they be charged with a hate crime?
