Eric Scheidler Statement on the Announced Retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer

On the occasion of the announced retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer from the United States Supreme Court, Pro-Life Action League executive director Eric Scheidler shared the following reflection:

On November 30, 2005, it was my honor to watch Justice Stephen Breyer at work when I attended the oral arguments in my father’s third hearing before the Supreme Court in the epic NOW v. Scheidler case. I was impressed with Justice Breyer’s deep intelligence, grasp of the issues, and evident concern for justice, despite knowing him to be a staunch supporter of legal abortion. I was thrilled that he joined the unanimous ruling that vindicated my father in this case. But seeing his competence and integrity firsthand only made me regret the more that he was on the wrong side when it comes to the right to life of unborn children.

I hope that in his retirement, Justice Breyer will reconsider his support for legal abortion and recognize the harm that has been done to our society by the Supreme Court’s abortion rulings.
