FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO, May 7, 2021 — Pro-life advocates will hold a prayer rally outside Illinois’s newest Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Waukegan on Tuesday, May 11, at 6:00 p.m. Central Time. The event, coordinated by the Pro-Life Action League, marks one year since the facility opened its doors in the early days of lockdown, when most businesses were closed.

“Planned Parenthood knew their abortion business wasn’t welcome in Waukegan,” said Pro-Life Action League executive director Eric Scheidler. “That’s why they hid their identity from the public — just like they did in Aurora, Flossmoor and Fairview Heights,” Scheidler continued, referring to the shell companies Planned Parenthood used to acquire the property and file building permits.

Scheidler noted that Planned Parenthood performs more than 40% of all the abortions in the United States, and that their Illinois affliate received more than $1 million from the federal government, despite having the funds to construct the state’s largest abortion facility in Waukegan.

“Planned Parenthood’s abortion business is booming, while the rest of us are suffering” Scheidler said. “And now they’re trying to repeal Illinois’s Parental Notice of Abortion Act, endangering our daughters’ health and safety, to further expand that abortion business.”

But Scheidler emphasized that the gathering on May 11 won’t just shine a light Planned Parenthood’s dishonesty and exploitation: “We’re here above all to offer help to mothers in difficult circumstances so that they don’t feel any need to turn to Planned Parenthood for an abortion.”

The candlelight vigil will feature prayers, hymns, and reflections from local religious leaders and pro-life activists.

Scheidler noted that the resistance to the Waukegan Planned Parenthood facility has just begun. “The pro-life community in Waukegan is coming together in a new way as pandemic restrictions begin to lift.
