Tomorrow is the start of one of my favorite pro-life events of the year: the Chicago area “Face the Truth” Tour, sponsored by Generations for Life’s parent organization, the Pro-Life Action League. From July 10th – 18th, we’ll be going all around Chicago and the suburbs, standing alongside busy streets, showing pictures of abortion victims and passing out brochures that offer help to women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy or who need post-abortion counseling. Over those eight days, we’ll reach hundreds of thousands of people. Last year, a woman walked past our Face the Truth display in Cicero, and one of our signs caught her attention. The sign featured a painting of Jesus weeping over the tiny broken body of an aborted baby, which He held in His hands. Beneath this image were the words, “Jesus forgives and heals.” The woman approached my friend Beth, who was holding the sign, and said, “I had an abortion once. Do you think God could ever forgive me?” The woman had tears in her eyes, and she looked old enough to be my mom. For decades, she had lived with the guilt of her abortion, before learning about God’s infinite mercy from my friend Beth. This woman’s healing could finally begin. I would like to invite you to help others see God’s healing mercy at work by being part of our Face the Truth Tour starting tomorrow, July 10. All you need to do is show up to any of the 24 sites in and around Chicago, and we’ll give you a sign to hold.
