March for Life, Chicago Style: Sunday, January 19

On Sunday, January 19th, Chicagoland pro-lifers will gather for the 9th annual March for Life Chicago.

Representatives of several local pro-life organizations have been meeting and planning since September to make Chicago’s pro-life community more visible both locally and on a national level. While the Chicago weather was still lovely back in September, the team adopted the motto (borrowed from Students for Life of Illinois) “Lovin’ Life in Chicago!” Now that the reality of January is upon us, we are determined to live up to the motto.

But just to make it a little easier, one whole organization with hundreds of members has committed to pray for decent weather for Sunday, January 19th.  Still, no matter what sort of weather the day gives us, Chicago area pro-lifers plan to show their mettle and March for Life.

We invite everyone to our fair city to join us January 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Federal Plaza, at Adams and Dearborn in downtown Chicago—that’s right across the street from the site of the famous NOW v Scheidler RICO trial. In the plaza Cardinal Francis George and Greek Orthodox Bishop Demetrios will speak, along with Pastor Ceasar LeFlore, Father Marco Mercado, and former Planned Parenthood counselor Linda Couri.

WLS Radio’s Dan Proft will serve as M.C. at Federal Plaza. Following talks at the plaza, the crowd will march to the State of Illinois Building (the Thompson Center) with Students for Life of Illinois in the lead.

Sheila Liaugminas of Relevant Radio will be Master of Ceremonies for the rally and talks at the Thompson Center, where Congressmen Dan Lipinski and Peter Roskam will address the gathering, along with our good friend Jill Stanek.

Coffee and donuts will be available at the rally at the Thompson Center to help keep attendees warm, in case of some typical January weather.

Bring the whole family!  You won’t want to miss this chance to spend time with hundreds of people who love life to mourn the loss of those who have suffered because of abortion and to re-commit yourself to the cause of Life.
