Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich, who worked as an RN at Planned Parenthood of Delaware’s facilities in Dover and Wilmington, would beg to differ.
As previously reported, Jayne and another former co-worker, Joyce Vasikonis, have blown the whistle on a host of shady practices at Delaware’s Planned Parenthood facilities.
Jill Stanek recently drew attention to several of Jayne’s diligently documented complaints, which were ignored by PP’s higher-ups.
Without a doubt, the most eyebrow-raising of Jayne’s complaints concerned Dr. Timothy Liveright, PP-DE’s chief abortionist.
According to Jayne’s documented complaints, Liveright had a habit of maintaining “such a hectic pace he sometimes cleaned surgical suites himself between patients, although not very well, leaving dried blood behind.” He also refused to wear sterile gloves during abortions.
Among the complaints [PDF] Jayne raised regarding Liveright:
“During a procedure that another doctor was performing, Dr. Liveright entered the room to see how things were proceeding. The doctors had a conversation regarding the faulty equipment in front of the patient…. After the doctors finished their conversation, Dr. Liveright struck the patient’s right lateral thigh with force with his opened hand, stating ‘BREATHE!’ The patient, shocked and puzzled, looked at me as if to say, ‘What is he doing?’ I suggested that Dr. Liveright must have some sort of unusual technique to help distract patients from the discomfort of the procedure. The patient looked at me, rolled her eyes, held my hand tight, and tried to relax and concentrate on her breathing. That is when Dr. Liveright peeks around the curtain (as he had not exited the room) and plays peek-a-boo with the patient. The patient then rolls her eyes and shakes her head stating, ‘He’s not right.’ The entire time this is happening, the other doctor is continuing to dilate the patient!
“Sexual harassment: I have noted Dr. Liveright inappropriately look up and down patients as well as staff members in a sexual kind of way. He actually stands back with a grin and slowly directs his eyes up and down a patient’s body.”
Misoprostol is a medication that is given to patients sublingually before having a surgical abortion. This medication helps soften and dilate the cervix and causes the uterus to contract. At Planned Parenthood, the Misoprostol is given to patients that are either over 12 weeks pregnant or over 9 weeks pregnant if the patient is under 19 years of age. The Misoprostol helps reduce the discomfort a patient may experience during an abortion. The medication takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to act and provide the most benefit for the patient. Dr. Liveright does not follow these guidelines and instead yells, “Bring the patient back. She doesn’t need it. Just bring her back”. The nurses actually hide the charts from Dr. Liveright so that he does not start up with his “bring the patient back!” song and dance until the patient has had enough time for the Misoprostol to work. Patients have even heard him say, “She doesn’t need it just bring her back” and have stated, “I want to be sure the medicine has had time to work,” and “The doctor is an a__hole isn’t he?”
Cecile Richards Has Nothing to Say
If Planned Parenthood really cared about women’s health, their president, Cecile Richards, wouldn’t rest until heads rolled, and publicly so. A press release would announce Liveright’s firing, and his jaw-droppingly unprofessional and downright creepy behavior would be condemned in no uncertain terms.
But if you go to Cecile Richards’ Twitter page, Planned Parenthood’s Twitter page, Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s Twitter page, and Planned Parenthood’s Facebook page and search for Liveright’s name, you won’t find it.
To no one’s surprise, Richards and company have opted to say exactly nothing about Liveright. Instead, they hope that no one asks any further questions so that his name can disappear down the memory hole.
