Planned Parenthood Vows to Destroy TX Women’s Health Program

Texas logoYou know the story, right? Planned Parenthood’s been all over the media with it for months now, ever since the attack on their taxpayer funding started.

Planned Parenthood cares about women, their health and their access to crucial services so their families can be healthy. Everyone opposed to them is waging a war on women. Right?

Wrong. A new story out of Texas shows exactly where Planned Parenthood’s interests lie. Get the full story after the break!

Texas lawmakers were renewing a program that helps underprivileged women get healthcare. But they wanted to be sure that the money would be going to places that actually give women healthcare, not places like Planned Parenthood—the bloated abortion giant with a $1 billion budget that provides a few health services as window dressing for their abortion business.

With that in mind, they forbade any abortion provider from receiving money under the program. To ensure Planned Parenthood didn’t get their greedy fingers into the pie, they built what’s called a “poison pill” into the program. If any abortion provider should sue the state to get ahold of some of the program’s money and win, the program would immediately shut down.

Texas lawmakers were laying it on the line to Planned Parenthood, in essence saying, “Which do you value more, women’s health or your bottom line?”

Guess which one Planned Parenthood brazenly chose. That’s right, before the bill has even passed, Planned Parenthood has vowed to sue for their share of the cash.

Here’s Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast CEO Peter Durkin:

By banning Planned Parenthood from providing health care to more than 40,000 Texas women through the Medicaid Women’s Health Program, this Senate bill shreds the health care safety net that saves lives and dollars. Planned Parenthood is prepared to move forward with a lawsuit if that’s what it takes to continue to provide cervical cancer screenings and other health care to the women who depend on our health centers.

Let’s be clear here: knowing that, if they win this lawsuit, a program that helps women access healthcare will be shut down, Planned Parenthood vows to go forward with the suit. Planned Parenthood is willing to deprive women of health benefits just so they don’t get cut out of the funding loop!

Durkin acts as if Planned Parenthood’s 84 clinics in the nation’s second largest state are the only places where a woman could get a cervical cancer screening. This is, of course, nonsense. There are 309 Federally Qualified Health Center locations in Texas that don’t perform abortions who could provide the services needed. Plus, they don’t have billion dollar budgets, so they could actually use the money!

Spread the word about Planned Parenthood’s unmitigated greed that drives them to hurt women to help their bottom line. We need to expose the truth about Planned Parenthood far and wide till the whole country knows that their concern is not helping women, but helping themselves.
