November 15, 1991—League Director Joe Scheidler presents Pope John Paul II with a VHS copy of “Meet the Abortion Providers” and a petition asking the Pope to instruct Aemrican bishops to deny communion to those involved with abortion. When the Holy Father finds out Joe is from Chicago he quips, “We hear good things about Chicago. Very active in pro-life.”
