Nightline LogoToday in League HistorySeptember 17, 1982—League Director Joe Scheidler is interviewed live in a Chicago studio by Ted Koppel in New York for the ABC-TV news program, Nightline. The show addressed the puported increase on violence by pro-lifers, but offers nothing but innuendo to link pro-life organizations with burned-down abortion clinics. Susan Hill, owner of an chain of a dozen abortion clinics, is also on the program and is asked by Koppel if she can understand people being upset about the “elimination of a human life.” Hill’s Women’s Health Organization would later sue Joe as one of the listed plaintiff’s in NOW v. Scheidler.
