SpeakOut Illinois Ponders the End of Roe, Feb. 3

SpeakOut Illinois 2007

The 2007 SpeakOut Illinois Conference will be held Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Drury Lane, Oak Brook Terrace, IL. The conference will feature three speakers on the theme “Horizon’s of Hope: The End of Roe.”

The Post-Roe Strategy

Rep. Roger W. Hunt of the South Dakota House of Representatives will give a talk entitled “Mobilize Your State: What South Dakota Can Teach Us.” Rep. Hunt has been at the center of the battle to secure an abortion ban in South Dakota.

Chris Slattery, Director Expectant Mother Care in New York will speak on “Preparing Pregnancy Centers for Post-Roe America.” Slattery’s group has saved thousands of babies from abortion and fought off efforts in New York to ban their activities.

Tom Brejcha, Chief Counsel, Thomas More Society and the League’s attorney, will speak on “Pro-Life Legal Strategies: How Law Shapes the Culture.”

Pro-Life Teen

League’s GFL To Run TeenSpeak Program

Concurrent with the regular SpeakOut program, the League’s youth outreach division, Generations for Life, will host TeenSpeak, a program for highschool teens. Speakers John Jansen, Annie Scheidler, Eric Scheidler and Vicky Thorne will address the theme, “What are you thinking?!” on the psychology, spirituality and ideology involved in the conflict over the life issues.

TeenSpeak will also feature an essay contest on the topic, “Think Again: What can you do to help another teen reconsider his or her thinking on abortion?” Scholarships of $1000 and $500 will be awarded.

A Unique Statewide Coalition

SpeakOut Illinois is a unique coalition of pro-life groups, bringing together activists, educational and political groups, crisis pregnancy centers and post-abortion outreach groups for an annual pro-life conference. The Pro-Life Action League has been proud to co-sponsor the annual SpeakOut Illinois event since its inception in 1992.
