Expert on Stopping Planned Parenthood to Address Action Steps for Aurora to Shut Down Abortion Provider
Aurora, IL—On Thursday, August 16, national expert Jim Sedlak founder of STOPP Planned Parenthood will speak to the media and concerned Aurora citizens about the new abortion center in their community. A press conference is scheduled for 5:00 PM in front of Planned Parenthood located at 3051 E. New York St. in Aurora. In addition, a community meeting will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the Prisco Community Center located at 150 W. Illinois Street (also in Aurora). Sedlak, Joe Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League and legal expert Denise Mackura will discuss strategies for shutting down Planned Parenthood and keeping them out of the schools in Aurora, Naperville and surrounding towns. Abortion rights protests are being organized by NARAL to be held during the meeting at the community center.

“It is very telling that Planned Parenthood snuck into Aurora under an assumed name so that nobody would have the chance to object,” said Sedlak. “It telegraphs the deceptive tactics they will use to indoctrinate the children in the schools around the community.”

Sedlak and other opponents have helped close Planned Parenthood centers in the past. He reports that in Monrovia, CA Planned Parenthood built a new facility, but never moved in due to legal challenges brought by pro-life activists. The city ultimately bulldozed the building and put in a parking lot. Similarly, in South Carolina, Planned Parenthood opened a facility, but the local citizens were so resistant to their presence that they closed within nine months.

Eric Scheidler, communications director of the Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League and a resident of Aurora, has spearheaded community group Fox Valley Families Against Planned Parenthood, to spur community activism against the center.

“We had just celebrated the closing of Alexander Jakubowski’s Galena Avenue abortion facility, completely ignorant of the fact that the enormous new ‘Gemini Medical Center’ was actually a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic,” said Scheidler. “The community is enraged and wants to keep Planned Parenthood from opening September 18, and to protect our children from the insidious lies Planned Parenthood spreads.”

Illinois residents from Aurora, Naperville, St. Charles, Batavia and other nearby towns have joined a 40-day prayer vigil at the Planned Parenthood site which began August 9th. Many area churches are involved in the campaign, including the Dioceses of Joliet, Rockford and Chicago. Knights of Columbus have agreed to take all of the middle-of-the-night shifts.

“We know from experience that Planned Parenthood targets teens and encourages them to make life-changing decisions, many times without their parents’ knowledge.” said Scheidler. “The information on Planned Parenthood’s teen website is so inappropriately graphic that I couldn’t even repeat it. We don’t want this garbage in Aurora.”
