Chicago, July 6—”In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision upholding the federal ban on partial birth abortion, we need to show our fellow citizens that all forms of abortion are brutal and should be outlawed,” said Joe Scheidler, National Director of the Pro-Life Action League, commenting on the League’s Face the Truth Tour, scheduled for July 7-14 throughout the Chicago area.
“When Americans see what abortion does to innocent unborn babies, public support for abortion dissolves,” Scheidler explained. “We saw that with the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. Congress, the President and the Supreme Court made the right decision in banning this barbaric method of killing unborn babies, and now we’re working to build support for banning all methods of abortion, because all are equally inhuman. There is never a legitimate medical reason for killing an unborn baby in her mother’s womb.”
The League’s Face the Truth Tour will launch in Joliet, Illinois on Saturday, July 7 and run through Saturday, July 14. Along the way the Tour group will visit sites in Chicago, Rockford, Plainfield, Shorewood, Bridgeview, Deerfield, Northbrook, Glenview, Naperville, Woodridge, Aurora, Niles, Lincolnwood, and Evanston.
“Last year we reached hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans with our graphic abortion signs,” said Scheidler, “and babies were saved, despite unusual difficulties with some local police.” Scheidler was referring to a 2006 Tour site that was shut down by police in Mundelein, Illinois who enforced a local ordinance the pro-life group says is unconstitutional.
“We’re showing America the truth about abortion,” said Scheidler.” Americans are turning against abortion more and more. With the recent Supreme Court decision outlawing partial birth abortion, we believe the voice of the pro-life majority is being heard, and unborn babies will again be protected by the laws that safeguard the lives of all Americans.”
