Chicago, Mar 6—”People in Illinois need to know that Judy Baar Topinka is pro-abortion,” said Joseph M. Scheidler, National Director of the Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League. “She is no friend to the unborn or to the pro-life community.”
To make her stand known, opponents of abortion will hold a “Topinka No!” demonstration outside the Thompson Illinois Center on Randolph and LaSalle Streets from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2006.
In addition to supporting abortion, Topinka has announced that she supports Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s executive order that demands that pharmacists dispense the morning after pill, marketed as “Plan B.”
“Plan B, the so-called emergency contraception, acts as an abortifacient,” said Scheidler. “It also promotes risky behavior, especially among teens.”
“We urge Illinois voters to select a candidate who values life and who supports initiatives to strengthen the family,” said Scheidler. “They must reject Judy Barr Topinka.”
