It is our sad task to announce the untimely death of pro-life activist Paul de Parrie of the former Advocates for Life Ministries of Portland, Oregon. Paul suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after he addressed the Constitution Party of the Oregon State Steering Committee on Saturday, May 20.
The Unborn Were His Only Client
At that meeting Paul was recording saying:
I was shamed into helping the unborn after twelve years of silence, in 1986. Since then, my only client has been the unborn. I don’t work for a movement. I don’t work for a party. I don’t work for candidates. I work for the unborn. I will stand for the unborn and I will not relent. The only thing that matters to me is doing my job to stop the killing of the unborn.
As Paul left the conference he uttered a moan and fell to the ground, and was dead by the time paramedics arrived. Paul had just seen what he considered to be a compromise on abortion, being proposed at the meeting, and spoke against it as his last act on earth.
We have known Paul for many years and always admired his great zeal for the babies, and his vast knowledge of the abortion issue. Paul was editor of the monthly Life Advocate for many years, and ran the Little House of de Parrie publication. He was one of the victims of a phony RICO case much like ours, and the group had been assessed heavy damages which ended the Advocates for Life Ministries.
Paul had looked ahead and left a letter in the event of a sudden death, in which his main concern is the welfare of his wife, Bonnie, who would need financial help in the event of his death. To that end we are giving the address where you can send a freewill gift to help Bonnie in this time of need: New Covenant Ministries International, PO Box 13109, Salem Oregon 97309. Mark it: “For Bonnie deParrie.” Make the tax deductible check out to New Covenant Ministries International.
Paul’s funeral is Tuesday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. in Portland For information call 503-231-0981. Paul was just 56.
Abusive Police in Des Plaines
What’s going on with Des Plaines’ Finest—the village police force, that is? Last Saturday in front of the notorious American Women’s Medical Center Abortion Mill on River Road, two faithful women sidewalk counselors were subjected to abusive treatment by two male officers who shouted at them, threatened them with arrest, swore at them and called them unpleasant names.
What were the counselors doing to cause such outbursts? What counselors always do they were trying to counsel women out of abortion. It’s bad enough having to face angry abortion clinic workers and grouchy abortion bound women, but when the cops join in, it gets to be a bit too much.
Perhaps American Women’s Medical Center needs a massive picket repleat with graphic pictures, bullhorns and a lawyer standing by to explain the law to the Des Plaines police. Stay tuned.
