Joe Scheidler Speaks at AUL Legal Institute

On Monday, May 22, League director Joe Scheidler spoke to an audience of interns and law students at the annual Americans United for Life Legal Institute. This annual event includes presentations by a broad spectrum of pro-life leaders covering activism, crisis pregnancy counseling, bioethics, euthanasia and healthcare issues.
Daniel McConchie, Vice President of Americans United for Life, coordinated the Institute and gave the opening talk, as well as presentations on pro-life politics and the future of the pro-life movement. The students were from law schools and graduate programs at several universities, including Notre Dame, Georgetown and Catholic University of America.
Scheidler spoke on what motivates a pro-life activist such as himself to stay the course in the face of such battles as the NOW v. Scheidler RICO case, which spanned the last twenty years. He told the students that his faith is the foundation for his commitment to the cause of life, and his faith sustains him when he confronts obstacles like the lawsuit or resistance from both secular society and many in the Christian community.
The League provided copies of its Action Speaks Louder Than Words DVD for each of the attendees, and the Face the Truth DVD with a booklet on coordinating Face the Truth Tours.
