The Pro-Life Action League’s 25th anniversary celebrations culminated in a gala banquet October 2 at the Drury Lane Oakbrook. The evening started with highlights from the League’s new documentary, Action Speaks Louder Than Words—featuring the League’s pioneer activities in sidewalk counseling, public protest, abortion providers conferences and motivating pro-lifers to action.

Fr. Frank Pavone, introduced by Master of Ceremonies Jerry Horn, gave the invocation, along with an exhortation to the assembly to stay in the fight, where the victory is sure.

The League’s founder and National Director, Joe Scheidler, spoke about the importance of activism, referencing St. Jerome, who first translated the bible from Greek to the vernacular Latin. Scheidler said Jerome was a genius at the word, but when he was compelled to minister to the people, he put the meaning of the words into action.

Scheidler then presented the Veritatis Splendor Award to Drew Mariani, host of his own talk show on Relevant Radio. Mariani gave a stirring talk comparing the struggles to eradicate abortion to the struggle against communism, racism and other social evils.

The event included a raffle of a trip to Rome and several beautiful items, including gift baskets assembled and donated by Paula and Teresa Emmerth.
