The Pro-Life Action League will celebrate the 8-1 victory handed down by the U. S. Supreme Court on February 26, 2003, with a rally, pro-life workshops and victory banquet in Chicago on Saturday, June 7.

“This is a victory for the entire pro-life movement and, in fact, for all Americans,” said Joseph M. Scheidler, National Director of the Pro-Life Action League, which won a resounding victory in the NOW v. Scheidler RICO case.

The National Organization for Women sued Scheidler and the Pro-Life Action League in June, 1986. After nearly seventeen years in the various federal courts, the suit finally ended when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled with a single dissenter that the pro-life defendants were not guilty of the alleged crime of extortion and that therefore the judgment in excess of $250,000 must be reversed and the nationwide injunction must be vacated.

Our pro-life friends have supported us throughout the duration of this long and arduous federal lawsuit,” said Scheidler. “We share this victory with them for all the prayers and sacrifices they have made in order for us to prevail in this case. We invite all our friends to join us for our victory celebration in Chicago.”

The celebration is a full day of activities entitled “Bring America Back to Life.” At 10:00 a.m., there will be a rally in Federal Plaza at Dearborn and Adams Streets, across the street from the site of the NOW v. Scheidler trial in 1998. In the afternoon, workshops on pro-life activism will be conducted in the Congress Plaza Hotel at Congress and Michigan Avenues, just across from
beautiful Grant Park and the Buckingham Fountain.

In the evening the pro-life defendants, their attorneys and eight hundred friends and supporters (the capacity of the Great Hall at the Congress Plaza) will gather to thank God for this great victory, to share a celebration meal and to prepare to move on to the next phase of pro-life activism.
