Crusade For The Defense Of Our Catholic Church: Dirty Dozen List

The indomitable Paul Brown of the American Life League is back with his list of Deadly Dozen again. Some years ago, Paul came up with a list of pro-abortion senators who needed to be defeated and he publicized a list which took the nation by storm and in fact about eleven of the deadly dozen were defeated.

The New Dirty Dozen

This January 22 full page ads in various newspapers slated another Deadly Dozen, this time all pretend Catholics whom Paul believes should be denied the Sacraments. Along with the twelve photographs is a statement by Denver Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, made last October at the Rotary Club of Denver: “John F. Kennedy promised he would keep his Catholic faith out of his public service. I think all Americans, nut just Catholics, have been paying for that mistake for forty years.”

Paul quotes cannon law No. 915 that says: “Those who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to communion.” Paul is calling on all the bishops and priests of the United States to respectfully refuse Holy Communion to these and all public figures whose unrepentant support for the killing of babies in the womb defiles the Mass and the Body of Christ.

Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church

Paul calls his American Life League project the Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church. A copy of his ad has been sent to every bishop mentioned in the ad.

The deadly dozen, all of whom are democrats but one, are:

  • Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts,
  • Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa,
  • Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts,
  • Sen. Tom Daschle of South Dakota,
  • Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut,
  • Sen. Susan Collins of Maine,
  • The lone Republican, Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island,
  • Sen. Patty Murray of Washington,
  • Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana,
  • Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont,
  • Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland, and
  • Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware.

Of course there are many other pretend Catholics who support abortion, but this is Paul’s current deadly dozen and he is urging you visit the ALL website for more information. The site also has the full contents of his letter to each senator’s own bishop, and the really important thing is to contact these bishops and ask them to protect the Sacrament from desecration and sacrilege.

A Bisohp’s Obligation

One of the principal obligations of any bishop is to protect the Sacrament. Give yourself a simple test. If you were the bishop of a diocese where your senator was a militant pro-abortion activists and regularly attended Mass and received Communion at a church in your diocese, and publicly claimed to be a practicing Catholic, would you do anything about it at all? If he came up to you to receive Communion would you give him Communion?

You are probably saying, “No, I couldn’t in good conscience do that.” Then how can the bishop do it? What possible reasoning can make it all right for the bishop if it would not be all right for you? Let me know if you have a satisfactory answer.

Some priests will say they never deny anyone the Eucharist because they can’t be certain that person has not just repented of his sin. Could be. But if this is a public sinner, as all pro abortion political activists supporter are, then that sinner would have to make a public assurance of repentance or else the scandal given is grave scandal. Public sinners must publicize their repentance to avoid grave scandal.

Chicago Mayor Honored by Gay Rights Group

A story in Sunday’s Chicago Sun Times pictures Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley being honored by Equality Illinois, the state’s leading gay and lesbian organization. He received their freedom award and thanked the group for making Chicago a better city and praised the gay and lesbians for their great journey for civil rights.

Also attending the gay bash were governor Rod Blagojevich, attorney general Lisa Madigan and a whole gaggle of pro-gay-rights politicians. With state and local leaders supporting not only abortion but the gay rights perversions it is no wonder that a kind of darkness has settled over the land.
