The Helpers of God's Precious Infants
Helpers Prayer Warriors support the counselors at an abortion facility in downtown Chicago
The Helpers of God's Precious Infants was founded in 1989 in New York by Monsignor Philip Reilly to enable believers from all walks of life to maintain a loving and prayerful presence outside of facilities where unborn children are put to death. The Helpers now includes hundreds of chapters throughout the United States and across the world. Many thousands of babies have been saved from abortion through the Helper's methods.
In 1997, the sidewalk counseling mission of the Pro-Life Action League was expanded to include the Chicago chapter of the Helpers of God's Precious Infants. The Chicago Helpers soon grew to include an Hispanic Helpers group, which has been blessed with tremendous success reaching out to Spanish-speaking abortion-bound women and men. McCreevy has also helped found chapters in Joliet, Aurora and Peoria, IL, and has mobilized local seminarians to pray and counsel at abortion facilities in the Chicago area.
The Helpers' work to save God's Precious Infants involves three particular missions:
1. Sidewalk Counselors
The sidewalk counselor is a witness for life, praying for the conversion of those involved in abortion, and gently offering counsel, guidance and assistance to abortion-bound mothers and fathers, enabling and encouraging them to choose life.
The sidewalk counselor also educates the parents about their baby's biological development and helps them understand the manner in which abortion will kill their child. If the mother has already had a previous abortion, the mercy of God is extended to her and the baby's father through the Project Rachel post-abortion counseling ministry.
For those who do not turn away from abortion, the Helpers counselor remains a witness for the unborn in their hour of crucifixion, just as our Blessed Mother and St. John stood beneath the Cross of our Lord as He died. Even after the abortion has taken place the Helpers offer God's mercy to the parents through the Project Rachel ministry.

Helpers prayer warriors gather at abortion facilities at any time abortions are being performed. They provide crucial spiritual and moral support for the sidewalk counselors, and intercede on behalf of abortion-bound parents, using the Helpers Prayer Book of the Precious Blood of Jesus. Even when sidewalk counselors are not present, prayer warriors are vital. Many an abortion-bound mother has confessed she turned away from abortion, "Because I saw people at the abortion clinic who were praying for me."
Every year, the Chicago Helpers host a special Mass followed by a procession and prayer vigil with one of the bishops of the Archdiocese of Chicago. These events have introduced thousands of faithful to the experience of being a prayer warrior, and have recruited many to make a more regular commitment to this important mission.
[Back to Top]3. Spiritual Supporters of the Precious Blood of Jesus
Those who are unable to be present at abortion facilities to pray or counsel are invited to become spiritual supporters of the Precious Blood of Jesus. Members of religious communities, children and their busy parents, those with heavy work schedules, shut-ins and the disabled from around the world offer up their prayers and sufferings for the assistance of Helpers counselors and prayer warriors, as well as for the conversion of all those contemplating or involved in abortion in any way.
