Clinic Workers Dance as Botched Abortion Victim Rushed to Hospital

Posted by Matt Yonke (October 28, 2011 at 11:09 am)

The disturbing video below from the stalwarts at Pro-Life Wisconsin blew up when it was posted to HotAir.com yesterday. Take a look:

On Monday I received a call from Pro-Life Wisconsin looking for help acquiring the 911 call audio of this incident from the city. If they’re successful in obtaining that, I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about what happened to the poor woman in the ambulance soon. [Continue reading ...]

Sidewalk Counselor’s Rights Upheld

Veteran sidewalk counselor Walter Hoye scored a major victory last week when the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals — widely regarded as the most liberal appeals court in the nation — sided with him in ruling that the City of Oakland’s “bubble zone” ordinance “unconstitutionally suppresses speech based on the content of its message.”

Pastor Hoye was the first person arrested and later convicted under the ordinance after it was adopted in May 2008, although those convictions were overturned last year.

Ordinance Enforced against Pro-Lifers, But Not Abortion Clinic “Escorts”

While the Circuit Court ruled, unfortunately, that the Oakland ordinance was constitutional as it is written (pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court’s Hill v. Colorado decision), it also ruled that the ordinance is not valid as the city applies it, because police have only enforced it against Hoye, but not other speakers, including abortion clinic “escorts” who have made a habit of surrounding him, blocking his sign that says, “Jesus loves you and your baby. Let us help,” and otherwise making it impossible for him to communicate with abortion-bound women. [Continue reading ...]

Indomitable pro-life veteran and world renowned sidewalk counselor Monsignor Philip Reilly visited the Chicago area this past weekend for a series of events to pray with and encourage Chicago pro-lifers in the spiritual battle against abortion.

Restoring a Culture of Life

On Friday, April 8, Msgr. Reilly gave a powerful talk entitled “The Roots of the Culture of Death and Restoring a Culture of Life” at St. Cletus Parish in west suburban LaGrange.

Philip Moore — a nephew of Msgr. Reilly who coordinated his uncle’s visit — reports that during this talk, Msgr. Reilly emphasized the critical need to love our sisters and brothers without hope who are personally involved with abortion in some way, saying, “God has an unconditional love for all his people and never stops loving us, so that is the love we must strive to give to those in darkness.”

Monsignor spoke in particular about his relationship with the recently deceased Dr. Bernard Nathanson, admitting that he at one time considered Nathanson his enemy, but that he came to realize that God never stopped loving Nathanson and wanting him to amend his ways, even after he committed all of the thousands of abortions he was responsible for. Later, Msgr. Reilly realized he must be Christlike and love those opposed to us without preconditions — and so too must all of us. [Continue reading ...]

“Neither Do I Condemn You”

Posted by John Jansen (April 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm)

rachelIn the Catholic liturgical calendar, the Gospel reading for today is the story of the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11).

One thing I find amazing about this Gospel passage is that it almost didn’t make it into the Bible. In fact, before the canon of Scripture was finalized in the late 4th century, some copies of St. John’s Gospel didn’t include this story.

St. Augustine tells us (cf. De coniugiis adulterinis, 2, 6) that many early Christians were afraid of keeping this story in John’s Gospel since it showed Jesus as being so merciful that they thought it might lead people to think that the reality of sin wasn’t as serious as the Church made it out to be.

League Partners with Catholic Hospital

One July morning when Pro-Life Action League staffers Corrina Gura and Urszula Mihai were praying and sidewalk counseling outside Albany abortion clinic on Chicago’s northwest side, a young woman approached them. She had been to Albany the day before and had initiated a three-day late-term abortion procedure involving the insertion of laminaria to expand the cervix before a dilation and evacuation (D&E) abortion.

But then she had a change of heart. She wanted to stop the abortion. She called several hospitals and no one would help her. She was returning to Albany because it seemed she had no other choice.

Providentially, Corrina and Urszula were there to help. They went with her to the nearby Women’s Center where a counselor recommended they go straight to Chicago’s Resurrection Hospital. [Continue reading ...]

Is There a Breakthrough in the Bubble Zone Fiasco?

In Oakland, California, Pastor Walter Hoye started praying at an abortion clinic when two elderly women asked him to join them because most of the clinic’s clients were African-American.

A quiet, devout man, Hoye began to counsel the women coming to that clinic. And he saved babies. So, in short order, the City of Oakland passed a bubble zone ordinance to try to keep Pastor Hoye and the two older women from reaching out to women and offering them a real choice.

Pastor Hoye Fights Bubble Arrest—and Wins

Pastor Hoye was arrested under the ordinance, in spite of the fact that he actually abided by the stipulation not to reach into the 8-foot floating bubble around the abortion clinic clients. He refused to pay a fine and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. [Continue reading ...]

Authentic Reform at the Chicago CCHD

Posted by John Jansen (August 11, 2010 at 4:40 pm)

Chicago CCHDTremendous outcry has arisen in the past year after it was learned that the national office of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development has been funding groups that promote abortion, contraception, same-sex “marriage” and even legalized prostitution.

It’s painfully obvious that the CCHD is in need of reform, and in Chicago, its local Archdiocesan office has taken that responsibility very seriously.

Chicago CCHD Director “on the Offensive for Reform”

Given the revelations about the CCHD’s history of supporting dubious organizations, it certainly has had its share of critics — as well it should. And to his great credit, Rey Flores, the new director of the Chicago CCHD office, has taken an irenic approach in reaching out to the most outspoken ones and asked them to suggest groups that they believe are deserving of grants from the Campaign.

A recent LifeSiteNews article spoke very favorably about the changes being made in the Chicago CCHD office under Flores’ leadership and noted that the reforms he is instituting locally would serve as a great example for the CCHD to follow nationwide. [Continue reading ...]

In Chapter 56 of Joe Scheidler’s landmark book, CLOSED: 99 Ways to Stop Abortion, pro-life activists are admonished, “If you learn that an abortion clinic is coming to your community, you are obliged to try to keep it out.”

Abortionist Goyal Moving into Arlington Heights

Since 1996 abortionist Vinod Goyal—owner and operator of seven abortion clinics in Northern Illinois—has sought permission to move Dimensions Medical Center abortion clinic from Des Plaines into a medical office building in Arlington Heights. [Continue reading ...]

Atlanta Clinic: A Microcosm of the Abortion Battle

This past weekend I was invited by Kateri Howard, organizer of Atlanta, Georgia’s 40 Days for Life Campaign, to conduct a sidewalk counseling seminar in Atlanta. 30 people attended the Friday evening seminar at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish hall.

On Saturday morning I joined a few of the 40 Days prayer warriors at the Feminist Women’s Health Center on Cliff Valley Road. The abortion clinic presents many of the obstacles that sidewalk counselors confront across the country. The building is set far back from the road. There is an aggressive security guard on duty. There are three driveways into the clinic parking lot. [Continue reading ...]
