In a Daily Herald article on this past weekend’s Speakout Illinois Conference, Planned Parenthood’s Carole Brite claims the organization “adheres to the highest standards of medical care for all of our reproductive health care services.”
To that, I respond, “Prove it.”
Unfortunately, there’s no way to verify Brite’s claim. We’ll have to take Brite’s word for it, because Planned Parenthood’s Illinois abortion clinics are not subject to state inspection.
In fact, only 13 of the state’s 22 surgical abortion facilities are subject to inspection—the 9 classified as “pregnancy termination specialty centers” (PTSCs) that do abortions up to 18 weeks, and the 4 classified as “ambulatory surgical treatment centers” (ASTCs) that do abortions up to 24 weeks. Pro-abortion IL Governor Pat Quinn
On Thursday, November 17, pro-abortion Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will present an award at a fundraising lunch for pro-abortion lobbying group Personal PAC and the Pro-Life Action League will be there to protest with graphic images showing the reality of abortion. Get all the details on the protest here.
We protested this very event last year, but the Governor’s actions are making it even more imperative this year. Check out a video of that protest here.
We at the League were outraged, if not surprised, when we heard that Quinn, a cradle Catholic, would be lending his support to Personal PAC, an organization whose stated mission is “electing pro-choice candidates to state and local office in Illinois.” It would, perhaps, be more surprising had Quinn not received nearly $500,000 in support from Personal PAC during his run for Governor last year. League protesters at the north entrance to the Chicago Hilton, where many Personal PAC supporters entered [Photo by Sam Scheidler]
Twenty pro-life stalwarts gathered yesterday outside the Chicago Hilton on Michigan Avenue to protest an awards luncheon hosted by the radical pro-abortion lobbying group, Personal PAC. I arrived on the scene about a half hour before the protest’s scheduled start time of 10:30 a.m. to find another picket already in progress, which made for an interesting event.
Housekeepers at the hotel were on strike, demanding a contract, and dozens of them and their supporters picketed outside each of the hotel’s four entrances, banging pots and pans and chanting slogans through megaphones.
The Personal PAC luncheon went ahead as scheduled, despite the labor picket going on outside, a cause for which the liberal supporters of Personal PAC might have been expected to have some sympathy. [Continue reading ...]

Today the Pro-Life Action League is heading to Rockford, Illinois for a 3-site Face the Truth Tour (itinerary here). Rockford is a hotspot in the abortion battle and today’s Tour is needed there.
You can be a part of today’s Tour even if you can’t be there in person. Here’s how:
When you’re out on the ground fighting to protect the lives of unborn babies, it’s good to know there’s a great pro-life team backing you up through prayers, encouragement and support.
During the League’s Face the Truth Tour yesterday in Evanston, Illinois, I took a few moments to offer a suggestion on how to respond when people object to this particular pro-life campaign. My assistant Matt shot this footage and edited the video.
All the phone calls, e-mails, protests, legislator visits and prayers have paid off! Friday’s deadline for the passage of new legislation by the Illinois House of Representatives came and went without HB6205—the “Illinois FOCA” bill—ever coming up for a vote.
This morning, the Illinois House of Representatives Human Services Committee passed HB6205, the Illinois
I don’t have information on who our two pro-life, pro-family, pro-sanity votes were, but I assume one of them was Republican Patricia R. Bellock, who raised numerous objections to the bill during the hearing. More details to come soon.
What this means is that the Illinois pro-life community must step up pressure on the entire House. Alicia reported that many Representatives attended the hearing. They’re clearly interested in this bill, which means they all need to hear from us again. And again. And again.

The pro-life movement in Illinois is already mobilizing against the pernicious “Reproductive Health and Access Act” just re-filed in the House of Representatives—better known as “Illinois FOCA”—and you can join the fight by adding your name to the petition just launched at the Stop Illinois FOCA website.
Once you’ve added your name with the online form, click the “Share This” link on the page to forward it to your pro-life family and friends. You can also download a printable petition [PDF] for gathering signatures at church or around the neighborhood.
