Father Frank Pavone Encourages League’s Face the Truth Tour

Posted by League Staff (July 19, 2011 at 10:53 am)

Note: Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life was kind enough to send along this letter [PDF] providing support and encouragement for the League and its volunteers on the 2011 Face the Truth Tour. Joe Scheidler read the letter aloud to volunteers at the close of the Tour.

Fr. Frank Pavone

July 16, 2011

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It’s a privilege to send to you today my joyful and prayerful greetings as you conclude the Face the Truth Tour. I would have gladly joined you in person, but have to get to Philadelphia to prepare for our training conference this week for Rachel’s Vineyard.

Let me offer you, however, this word of encouragement. There is no activity in the pro-life movement more important and effective than to stand on the streets of America and expose the graphic reality of abortion. Many activities communicate to people the conclusion that abortion kills children. What you have done during this tour, however, conveys to people the facts that compel that conclusion.

And never be worried about the criticisms you receive from human beings. Only fear the criticism of God that is reserved for those too cowardly to proclaim and face the truth.

As I always say, America will not reject abortion until America sees abortion. I thank my long time friends and colleagues, the Scheidlers, for providing such outstanding leadership, and I thank all of you for doing what needs to be done. We will see the victory soon.

Sincerely,
Fr. Frank Pavone
National Director, Priests for Life

Face the Truth Tour 2011 Changes Hearts and Minds on Abortion

The Pro-Life Action League’s 2011 “Face the Truth” Tour was a huge success, changing hearts and minds on abortion across the Chicagoland area.

The Tour kicked off on Friday, July 8 and visited 9 sites in Chicago and 14 cities across the suburbs with graphic photos of abortion to show the public the true face of our country’s greatest moral atrocity.

The most striking aspect of this year’s Tour was that it ran like buttered clockwork. There were literally no significant problems from passersby, police or our opposition. Two sites had to be changed last minute due to construction, but even there, people found the new sites and turnout was great.

Police in every municipality we visited were friendly and helpful—at some sites they didn’t even show up! Only 2 sites saw counter-protesters (and those a paltry handful) and feedback from passersby was overwhelmingly positive.

Baby Saved from Abortion by Face the Truth Tour

The rest of the League’s staff and I will be sharing more stories of the Tour throughout the coming days, but there was one story that just couldn’t wait to be told. [Continue reading ...]

Is Face the Truth Un-Christian?

Posted by John Jansen (July 1, 2011 at 9:11 am)

Last week we posted our exciting new Face the Truth video, which addresses some of the common objections we hear when show graphic abortion pictures out on the street.

In this post I’d like to focus on another objection that I must admit I find it hard to get my head around. Namely, the charge that showing graphic abortion pictures in public is uncharitable—and even un-Christian—especially because of the supposedly damaging effects it has on children.

Personally, I find it understandable that the average secular person might get upset upon seeing a display of graphic abortion pictures.

But I’m gobsmacked when Christians try to claim that showing the victims of abortion in an effort to awaken people’s consciences is actually contrary to our faith.

As Christians, we know that Our Lord Jesus Christ allowed Himself to be mercilessly scourged, crowned with thorns, and forced to stumble — battered, bloodied, and grotesquely ignominious — through the streets of Jerusalem before being nailed to the Cross. It’s surely safe to assume that there were children among the crowds that day — these were public streets, after all, and the city would have been teeming with families who had come there on pilgrimage for Passover. Exciting New Video Shows “Face the Truth” in Action

Posted by Matt Yonke (June 22, 2011 at 9:47 am)

With our summer “Face the Truth” Tour hitting the streets July 8-16, the Pro-Life Action League is proud to present an exciting new video explaining the Face the Truth approach to pro-life activism and why we believe it’s one of the most important tools in fighting abortion. Check it out:

The video was shot on last year’s Face the Truth Tour by the crack team over at Spirit Juice Studios and really captures the League’s unique approach to the tactic in a punchy 2 and a half minute package.

This video is a great way to show your friends or family who might be unsure about joining in pro-life activism that it’s necessary for our culture to see the reality of abortion. It also shows that regular people from all walks of life take part and that it’s safe and effective.

Share this video and the Face the Truth Tour itinerary with your friends and on all your social networks today. Let’s get people fired up about sharing the pro-life message with Face the Truth!

Palatine, Illinois Jaycees Reject Child in the Womb

Posted by Joe Scheidler (June 14, 2011 at 3:42 pm)

Pro-life sign in PalatineThe Jaycees in Palatine, Illinois have told the Palatine Area Catholics Respect Life organization that they can’t carry their usual banner (pictured right) in the Fourth of July parade this year—because it has a picture of an unborn baby on it!

Despite the fact that the sign received applause and standing ovations along the parade route last year, the sign has been vetoed.

The pro-lifers were told they could replace the fetus with a picture of a pregnant woman, and march with the 80 other entries. But the group’s co-founder, Martin Kelley, refused the offer, saying it defeats their purpose. The Jaycees claim they made a mistake last year by allowing the picture to be used, but claim they didn’t see a clear image of it. The story is catching the media’s attention and was featured today on the Huffington Post.

Now that the Jaycees have taken a good look, they have determined that the picture “crosses a line.” You can call the Jaycees at 847-604-0288 and let them know that there’s nothing offensive about unborn babies, and the banner should be allowed in the parade.

League Brings the True Face of Abortion to NARAL Bash

Protest of NARAL party

Last night NARAL Pro-Choice America, the nation’s leading pro-abortion lobbying organization, held a fundraising event downtown Chicago, and the Pro-Life Action League was there to protest.

The evening’s purpose was to thank Illinois’ pro-abortion Congressional delegation for their opposition to the so-called “war on women”—the abortion lobby’s term for the majority of Americans who oppose paying for abortion with our tax dollars.

Though temperatures had been as high as 100° that afternoon, things were much cooler downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue outside the Gage Restaurant where NARAL was holding their party. Proximity to Lake Michigan and the shade of the towering buildings kept things quite comfortable as we began to set up the protest. [Continue reading ...]

Why Aren’t You Doing Something Else?

Posted by Corrina Gura (May 20, 2011 at 1:19 pm)

At our Face the Truth Tour stop in Hanover Park, Illinois on Wednesday, a man approached me after talking to Chris, one of our sign-holding volunteers. He said “the other guy” wouldn’t answer his question, so would I? I told him I’d try my best.

It turns out it was the same, standard, “Why aren’t you helping some other group instead of unborn babies?” shtick we’ve all heard a million times. And although Chris had answered him, he wasn’t satisfied.

10,000 Infant Starvation Deaths In America Every Day?

He demanded to know what we were doing about the 10,000 infants in America who were dying “at their mother’s breasts” every day from starvation.

Finally I called him out on that number, telling him I just didn’t believe it was true.

He challenged me to look it up, so I did. He said his numbers came from the World Health Organization, among other sources, so I went to the WHO for my statistics.

Not surprisingly, he was wrong. [Continue reading ...]

Face the Truth Returns to NW Chicago Suburbs

Posted by Matt Yonke (May 19, 2011 at 2:31 pm)

Face the Truth Day in Hanover Park, ILIn unseasonably cold weather for late May, the Pro-Life Action League brought a “Face the Truth” day to the northwest Chicago suburbs of Hanover Park and Schaumburg.

There was a chill in the air and rain in the forecast as League staff and volunteers met on the corner of Irving Park and Barrington Roads in Hanover Park to display graphic photos of aborted babies along the major intersection.

Over a dozen dedicated activists turned out and showed passersby in all four directions pictures of baby Malachi, a baby aborted in the 2nd trimester. [Continue reading ...]
