A Year of Pro-Life Activism in Two Minutes

Posted by Matt Yonke (January 3, 2012 at 2:15 pm)

2011 was a huge year in the abortion battle and the Pro-Life Action League was busier than ever fighting abortion on the front lines with hard-hitting grassroots activism.

To show you a sample of what 2011 looked like for the League, we’ve put together this 2 minute video displaying a few of the things we did each month. We hope you enjoy this look back at the last year and that you’ll join us in making 2012 an even bigger year for life!

The Pro-Life Action League’s 9th annual “Empty Manger” caroling day took place Saturday, December 17 at nine Illinois abortion facilities, four in DuPage County and five in Chicago.

In DuPage, the day began at ACU Health Center in Hinsdale, then proceeded to Aanchor in Glen Ellyn and Access in Downers Grove, and finished at Planned Parenthood in Aurora.

Over 80 pro-lifers took part in at least one of the DuPage caroling sites, with Planned Parenthood drawing the largest crowd of 55.

The Chicago caroling tour began at Family Planning Associates in downtown Chicago, then went on to Near North Planned Parenthood, All Women’s Health, American Women’s Medical Center, and concluded at Albany Medical/Surgical Center.

Over 50 pro-lifers sang carols at one or more of the Chicago sites, with particularly large crowds at both Planned Parenthood and Albany. Among the highlights of the Chicago caroling tour was a banner with the words, “All I want for Christmas…is an end to abortion,” which has been a part of all nine caroling tours dating back to 2003. Posted by Matt Yonke (December 5, 2011 at 4:02 pm)

Every year the Pro-Life Action League brings the light of Christ to the darkness of the abortuary with our “Empty Manger” Christmas caroling day. The video of last year’s event shows just how moving this effective pro-life witness can be.

More and more groups around the country have started holding their own Christmas caroling events at abortion clinics, and now it’s your turn to get involved in this Advent pro-life ministry.

To help you do just that, the League has put together some critical resources that will make your caroling day a success.

CLOSED: Dimensions Abortion Clinic in Des Plaines, IL

Posted by John Jansen (December 2, 2011 at 11:25 am)

dimensions medical center closedWe were thrilled to find out yesterday that the Dimensions Medical Center abortion facility in Des Plaines, Illinois has CLOSED!

Dimensions was one of seven Chicago area abortion facilities owned by the notorious Vinod Goyal, and since last year it has seen a regular pro-life sidewalk counseling and prayer presence thanks to the tireless efforts of Northwest Families for Life (NWFL), a group of grassroots activists headed by local residents Maria Goldstein and Laura Vandercar.

The League was happy to help get Northwest Families off the ground last year. Shortly after NWFL launched, the League’s Joe, Ann, and Eric Scheidler met with Maria and Laura to offer advice and give them a set of signs to use during the times of their abortion clinic witnessing. (These signs direct women to a nearby pregnancy resource center, and they’ve proven so effective that abortion clinic workers have repeatedly tried to steal them!)

We soon realized that Northwest Families meant it when they said they were seriously committed to stepping up the pro-life presence outside the abortion clinics in their community. [Continue reading ...]

Minnesota Abortion Center to Close Next Month

Posted by Matt Yonke (November 29, 2011 at 12:03 pm)
Regions Hospital

Regions Hospital in MN, which will close its abortion center Dec. 9

One of the best tools in the fight to end abortion in America is making it unavailable.

As we found out when we infiltrated last year’s Medical Students for Choice conference, abortionists are already shaking in their boots because of the dwindling number of doctors performing abortions.

Closing down abortion centers makes it that much harder to obtain an abortion, and a long drive might be the last straw that makes a mother stick it out through a difficult pregnancy instead of going through with an abortion.

Well, we’re happy to report that one of only seven abortion facilities in the state of Minnesota will stop its deadly business early next month! [Continue reading ...]

Media Covers League Protest, Bps. Call Meeting with Pro-Abort Gov.

Posted by Matt Yonke (November 18, 2011 at 9:33 am)

In the wake of yesterday’s protest of Illinois Governor Pat Quinn’s presentation of the “Pro-Choice Leadership Award” at a pro-abortion political action committee fundraiser, Illinois’ Catholic bishops have asked for a meeting with Quinn to discuss his support for abortion, gay marriage and other issues at odds with the teaching of the Catholic Church.

As we await the meeting, check out some great footage of the protest and pro-life rape victim who chose life, Mary Higgins and get links to all the media coverage after the jump:

League to Governor: “Shame on Pro-Abort ‘Catholic’ Quinn”

Posted by Matt Yonke (November 17, 2011 at 3:43 pm)
Quinn Personal PAC protest

Illinois “Catholic” pro-abortion governor Pat Quinn presented the “Pro-Choice Leadership Award” at Personal PAC’s annual fundraising luncheon, and the Pro-Life Action League was there to protest.

Despite being called out by all six Illinois Catholic bishops, Quinn obstinately disobeyed and presented the award.

Bearing protest signs reading, Shame on Pro-Abort “Catholic” Quinn and Personal PAC = Abortion, League staff and volunteers staked positions outside all the entrances to the Chicago Hilton and Towers where the event was held.

The League also brought graphic images of aborted babies to make it absolutely clear what the euphemism of “choice” is covering up. [Continue reading ...]

Eric Shares Activism Expertise at IPYC in Los Angeles

This past weekend I traveled to Los Angeles for the first ever International Pro-Life Youth Conference to join a cast of fantastic speakers and 300 of the most enthusiastic young pro-lifers I’ve ever seen.

The conference was expertly organized by Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust and cosponsored by several other pro-life groups, including the League, which provided copies of our Sharing the Pro-Life Message handbook to all attendees. Rev. Pat Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition did an extraordinary job as Master of Ceremonies.

My contribution to the conference was a new PowerPoint presentation on conducting successful events entitled, “10 Keys to Effective Pro-Life Action,” which drew on my years as an activist. These keys included such advice as “Devise your battle plan,” “Cooperate with police” and “Take care of volunteers.” [Continue reading ...]

Personal PAC, Quinn and Goodman Should Be Ashamed

Posted by Ann Scheidler (November 8, 2011 at 4:04 pm)
Jennie Goodman and Pat Quinn

Jennie Goodman and Governor Pat Quinn

On Thursday, November 17, Personal PAC will hold its annual fundraising luncheon in Chicago.

Personal PAC is “dedicated to electing pro-choice candidates to state and local offices in Illinois.” Their motto—It’s Pro-Choice or No Choice—is unwittingly revealing. They believe in No Choice for an unborn baby. Nor do they really believe in choice for women.

Personal PAC actively opposes even measures that are beneficial to women such as a 24-hour waiting period before making a choice for abortion, laws mandating informed consent and Illinois’ parental notification law, which remains unenforced 16 years after being enacted. [Continue reading ...]
