We were thrilled to find out yesterday that the Dimensions Medical Center abortion facility in Des Plaines, Illinois has CLOSED!
Dimensions was one of seven Chicago area abortion facilities owned by the notorious Vinod Goyal, and since last year it has seen a regular pro-life sidewalk counseling and prayer presence thanks to the tireless efforts of Northwest Families for Life (NWFL), a group of grassroots activists headed by local residents Maria Goldstein and Laura Vandercar.
The League was happy to help get Northwest Families off the ground last year. Shortly after NWFL launched, the League’s Joe, Ann, and Eric Scheidler met with Maria and Laura to offer advice and give them a set of signs to use during the times of their abortion clinic witnessing. (These signs direct women to a nearby pregnancy resource center, and they’ve proven so effective that abortion clinic workers have repeatedly tried to steal them!)
We soon realized that Northwest Families meant it when they said they were seriously committed to stepping up the pro-life presence outside the abortion clinics in their community. [Continue reading ...]
Regions Hospital in MN, which will close its abortion center Dec. 9
One of the best tools in the fight to end abortion in America is making it unavailable.
As we found out when we infiltrated last year’s Medical Students for Choice conference, abortionists are already shaking in their boots because of the dwindling number of doctors performing abortions.
Closing down abortion centers makes it that much harder to obtain an abortion, and a long drive might be the last straw that makes a mother stick it out through a difficult pregnancy instead of going through with an abortion.
Well, we’re happy to report that one of only seven abortion facilities in the state of Minnesota will stop its deadly business early next month! [Continue reading ...]
In the wake of yesterday’s protest of Illinois Governor Pat Quinn’s presentation of the “Pro-Choice Leadership Award” at a pro-abortion political action committee fundraiser, Illinois’ Catholic bishops have asked for a meeting with Quinn to discuss his support for abortion, gay marriage and other issues at odds with the teaching of the Catholic Church.
As we await the meeting, check out some great footage of the protest and pro-life rape victim who chose life, Mary Higgins and get links to all the media coverage after the jump:
Pro-lifers protest Governor Quinn and Personal PAC [Photo by Eric Scheidler]
Illinois “Catholic” pro-abortion governor Pat Quinn presented the “Pro-Choice Leadership Award” at Personal PAC’s annual fundraising luncheon, and the Pro-Life Action League was there to protest.
Despite being called out by all six Illinois Catholic bishops, Quinn obstinately disobeyed and presented the award.
Bearing protest signs reading, Shame on Pro-Abort “Catholic” Quinn and Personal PAC = Abortion, League staff and volunteers staked positions outside all the entrances to the Chicago Hilton and Towers where the event was held.
The League also brought graphic images of aborted babies to make it absolutely clear what the euphemism of “choice” is covering up. [Continue reading ...]
Eric Scheidler speaks on activism at the International Pro-Life Youth Conference, Nov. 12 [Photo by Dave Bathon]
This past weekend I traveled to Los Angeles for the first ever International Pro-Life Youth Conference to join a cast of fantastic speakers and 300 of the most enthusiastic young pro-lifers I’ve ever seen.
The conference was expertly organized by Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust and cosponsored by several other pro-life groups, including the League, which provided copies of our Sharing the Pro-Life Message handbook to all attendees. Rev. Pat Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition did an extraordinary job as Master of Ceremonies.
My contribution to the conference was a new PowerPoint presentation on conducting successful events entitled, “10 Keys to Effective Pro-Life Action,” which drew on my years as an activist. These keys included such advice as “Devise your battle plan,” “Cooperate with police” and “Take care of volunteers.” [Continue reading ...]
Jennie Goodman and Governor Pat Quinn
On Thursday, November 17, Personal PAC will hold its annual fundraising luncheon in Chicago.
Personal PAC is “dedicated to electing pro-choice candidates to state and local offices in Illinois.” Their motto—It’s Pro-Choice or No Choice—is unwittingly revealing. They believe in No Choice for an unborn baby. Nor do they really believe in choice for women.
Personal PAC actively opposes even measures that are beneficial to women such as a 24-hour waiting period before making a choice for abortion, laws mandating informed consent and Illinois’ parental notification law, which remains unenforced 16 years after being enacted. [Continue reading ...]
The fight against abortion in America is going fast and furious right now, and the League has three opportunities this month for you to fight abortion in the Chicago area.
This is also a good time to mention the Pro-Life Calendar on the League’s homepage where we list pro-life events from across the country. Contact us with your event information and we’ll put it up for the whole pro-life community to see!
Now, for the League’s November events. First we’ll kick things off next Thursday, November 10 with a Face the Truth Day downtown Chicago. Meet outside the Wrigley Building, 410 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago (Map) for the first site at 9:30 a.m., then head up to the Art Institute, just a few blocks south (Map), for the second site at 11:30. [Continue reading ...]
“Justice for All” display sparks abortion conversation on campus
The day after the pro-life group Justice for All set up a display of graphic abortion pictures on the campus of Oklahoma State University, Temitope Akande, a student columnist for the university’s newspaper, wrote a fascinating account of his experience talking with a JFA representative whom he identifies as “John” (presumably John Michener, JFA’s Oklahoma and North Texas regional manager).
Akande says at the outset that he walked up to the pro-lifers “ready to challenge them for their ignorance and insensitivity in displaying gruesome pictures of aborted fetuses.” But after talking with John for over an hour, Akande said, “I came away feeling much different.” [Continue reading ...]

Following our first ever “Face the Truth Tour” in Cincinnati last weekend, we received an e-mail from someone who made it clear he was not a fan of ours:
Placing those photos on major roads was innappropiate [sic] and disgusting and Tramatizing [sic] to children and your organization should be ashamed and banned.
I don’t care if you are protesting against abortion, but subjecting children to these photos is not acceptable behavior for an organization that tries to represent itself as concerned citizens.
Please rethink your actions and your so called caring tour and don’t force this stuff on our children by using disgusting graphic photos.
After years of experience showing graphic abortion pictures out on the streets, we’ve gotten used to hearing complaints — which, like that of our aforementioned correspondent, most often ask “What if children see these pictures?” in some form or other.
That’s why this is the first question addressed on our Answering Common Objections to Face the Truth page.
But there’s another aspect of this complaint that deserves some attention: the idea that by displaying graphic abortion pictures, we are thereby forcing people to look at them. [Continue reading ...]
Ann Scheidler sets up the first sign in Cincinnati [Photo by Eric Scheidler]
On Saturday, October 8, the Pro-Life Action League brought the first ever “Face the Truth” Tour to Cincinnati, Ohio.
The idea to bring this dynamic public education initiative to Cincinnati was conceived when League Executive Director Eric Scheidler met his third cousin Tim Scheidler, a Cincinnati native who traveled to Chicago for the tribute dinner for Joe Scheidler last April.
Tim, an avid pro-lifer himself, wondered if the League might be willing to bring Face the Truth to his home town. After discussing the prospect with some other Cincinnati contacts, it was determined that there was enough interest to bring out volunteers for the effort, so plans were set in motion. [Continue reading ...]
