Komen To Stop Funding Abortion Giant Planned Parenthood

no pp logoLate yesterday evening, news broke that the breast cancer education and research organization Susan G. Komen for the Cure would no longer be donating to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain.

Pro-life groups across the country—including the Pro-Life Action League are applauding Komen for this decision.

Komen had been making large grants to Planned Parenthood since 2005—over $625,000 in 2010, for example—which were supposed to be earmarked for breast cancer screening and education.

Pro-lifers objected to these grants not only because any support for Planned Parenthood ultimately means contributing to their abortion business, but because of the mounting evidence that abortion actually increases a woman’s risk of breast cancer.

Komen Decision Shows Pro-Life Muscle

In numerous media reports, Komen says it decided to stop giving to Planned Parenthood because they’re under investigation in the U.S. House of Representatives.

What’s not being reported is that Komen also made this decision because they have tightened the requirements for grant recipients, demanding more clear-cut evidence of positive outcomes for women.

Simply put, Komen has finally recognized what we pro-lifers have been saying all along: Planned Parenthood doesn’t really help women!

Planned Parenthood—so furious about the move that they went public with the story—claims Komen is buckling under to political pressure.

But we in the pro-life movement see a clear case of grassroots opposition at work. All those years of phone calls, e-mails, letters, faxes, online campaigns and even public protests have paid off. Indeed, Congress is only investigating Planned Parenthood at the insistence of their pro-life constituents.

Nor can it have helped that undercover pro-life investigation group Live Action exposed Planned Parenthood for falsely claiming to do mammograms. Komen has ample reason to back away from the most controversial corporation in the country.

Let Komen Know You Support Their Good Decision

Let’s thank Komen for doing the right thing—and show other corporations that they, too, should sever ties with Planned Parenthood. E-mail Komen to applaud their decision—or to really show them this was the right call, make a donation to Komen’s programs.

pink ribbonThis is truly an encouraging development. Not only will pro-life Americans now be able to support Komen in good conscience, but Planned Parenthood has taken yet another hit to their already battered public reputation.

Americans are learning the truth about Planned Parenthood, and the more they learn, the more they are turning against them.

Here’s looking forward to the day when Planned Parenthood’s biggest contributor—our government—follows Komen’s example and cuts Planned Parenthood off.
