Scheidler case hands down it verdict, finding League Director Joe Scheidler and other defendents guilty of racketeering under the Racketeering and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) for their pro-life activities. The jury awards the plaintiffs—the National Organization for Women and abortion clinics—$85,926.92 in damages, which is trebled under RICO to over a quarter million dollars. Joe vows to appeal the decision. In two rulings in 2003 and 2006, the would overturned the jury decision, vindicating Joe and the other defendants.
