We just received word from the Rockford (Illinois) Pro-Life Initiative that the pro-life billboard they erected November 1 was vandalized this week.
This incident is the latest in a series of obstacles that members of the Initiative have faced in recent years in their attempt to share the pro-life message.
Four years ago, a pro-life ad the group placed on a bus bench was repeatedly vandalized.
At Northern Illinois Women’s Center, the city’s sole abortion facility, members of the group have had numerous run-ins with police over their First Amendment rights to protest and sidewalk counsel — and, more recently, their efforts to have a mobile ultrasound they’ve tried to park on the public street in front of the particularly deplorable facility, whose window displays include a rubber chicken attached to a Crucifix and a poster showing Jesus giving the middle finger, along with the inscription “Even Jesus Hates You.”
Members of the Rockford Pro-Life Initiative have elicited the help of the Thomas More Society, Pro-Life Law Center to ensure that their basic rights and freedoms are protected. Unfortunately, after some initially promising developments, negotiations between TMS attorneys and lawyers from the City of Rockford broke down last month.
Yet through it all, the members of the Rockford Pro-Life Initiative remain committed to shining a spotlight on the ugliness of abortion and the dubious actions of its most ardent supporters in their community.
Their billboard certainly wasn’t the first public pro-life display to be vandalized (see three other recent examples here, here, and here), and it surely won’t be the last.
But we have nothing to fear from pro-abortion vandalism. In the long run, it does nothing to hurt the pro-life cause. On the contrary, it does hurt the pro-abortion cause, for as long as pro-aborts keep behaving like bullies, public support for abortion will continue to drop.

Along with every thing which appears to be developing inside this subject material, all your opinions happen to be somewhat stimulating. On the other hand, I am sorry, because I do not subscribe to your whole plan, all be it exciting none the less. It looks to everybody that your remarks are not entirely validated and in reality you are generally your self not completely certain of the argument. In any case I did take pleasure in reading through it.
