Planned Parenthood Pushes Sex and Illinois FOCA

Posted by Corrina Gura (February 11, 2010 at 2:12 pm)

plannedparenthoodsexedThe only thing I think I’ve ever learned about sex from TV is that it is pleasurable. And yet, somehow, Planned Parenthood thinks children have missed out on that factoid, and they need to be explicitly taught this in schools—beginning at age 10, according to a new study by the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

While God certainly created sex for pleasure, as John Paul II’s Theology of the Body teaches us, there’s more to it than that. Much, much more. And when it is separated from the bond of Holy Matrimony (and from an attitude of mutual self giving), the pleasure is fleeting and hardly amounts to much—and it’s more than outweighed by the risk of lifelong and even deadly STDs, out of wedlock pregnancies, and emotional devastation after he/she (almost inevitably) leaves you.

Just “Accept” It?

Bert Koenders, Minister for Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, writes in his introduction [pdf] to the study: “The whole world needs to accept that many young people, married and unmarried, are sexually active.”

Why?

Why do we need to simply “accept” that unmarried young people are needlessly exposing themselves to diseases and heartbreak?

Perhaps it’s because that is how Planned Parenthood makes their money. As Ed Mechmann, a spokesperson for New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan, observed, “The difference between Planned Parenthood and us is that we don’t make money off what we teach and say. They do. They make money off contraceptives and abortions.”

Illinois FOCA Returns

Unfortunately, Planned Parenthood and their pro-abortion friends (the ACLU of Illinois, Illinois NOW, and Personal PAC, just to name a few) have reintroduced the “Illinois FOCA” bill.

While today is too soon to start calling or lobbying your representatives, we will be doing in the coming weeks. Take some time to read the bill and you’ll see the agenda fits Planned Parenthood’s modus operandi: pushing greater acceptance of and access to sex and abortion, on demand with no consequences.

Planned Parenthood’s Mission

Lest you think I’m exaggerating (though you faithful pro-lifers probably have not been surprised by a word I said), here’s [pdf] International Planned Parenthood Federation’s mission statement:

IPPF works towards a world where women, men and young people everywhere have control over their own bodies, and therefore their destinies. A world where they are free to choose parenthood or not; free to decide how many children they will have and when; free to pursue healthy sexual lives without fear of unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. A world where gender or sexuality are no longer a source of inequality or stigma. We will not retreat from doing everything we can to safeguard these important choices and rights for current and future generations.

It boggles my mind that such frightening, evil actions are listed as positive “goods” to strive for. That so many people can be so fooled is truly disturbing.

But that’s all the more reason to keep fighting the good fight!
