This morning, the Illinois House of Representatives Human Services Committee passed HB6205, the Illinois
I don’t have information on who our two pro-life, pro-family, pro-sanity votes were, but I assume one of them was Republican Patricia R. Bellock, who raised numerous objections to the bill during the hearing. More details to come soon.
What this means is that the Illinois pro-life community must step up pressure on the entire House. Alicia reported that many Representatives attended the hearing. They’re clearly interested in this bill, which means they all need to hear from us again. And again. And again.

So, what EXACTLY will change? I thought abortion was already about as legal as it could get in this state.

Illinois is one of the most unregulated states in the union with respect to abortion. But we do have an abortion law passed in 1975 that would protect the unborn if Roe v. Wade were to be overturned. That law would be abolished if 6205 were to pass.
Also any restrictions or regulations on abortion, even if the intent is for the protection and health of women, would be overturned by 6205. It also mandates comprehensive sex education in public schools. The programs in use and promtoed by Planned Parenthood and extremely graphic and definitely inappropriate for children in a classroom setting (or probably anywhere else).

Also, now any “qualified medical professional” would now be able to perform an abortion. As it stands now, only doctors can perform abortions in Illinois. Who gets to define “qualified”? Joy Davis was trained on the job as an abortionist–does that make her qualified? (I would say no, our pro-abort legislators and Planned Parenthood’s crew might disagree). http://prolifeaction.org/providers/davis.php
