League Opposes Medical Students for Choice Conference

When we at the League first heard that the group Medical Students for Choice (MSFC) would be hosting their annual conference in the Chicago area, we immediately knew two things: first, we would oppose the conference with a protest, and second, we had to get someone on the inside to see what our pro-abortion foes were up to.
When MSFC scheduled their conference in the Chicago area, they knew that they would face opposition from the League, so they kept the specific location of the conference as secret as they could. They only told registered attendees of the conference where it would be.
Spy Secured, Location Locked Down
This made it all the more imperative that we get someone on the inside, but it took some looking to find a med student with the guts to take on the abortion industry. Eventually we found a brave young student and got our location: the Westin hotel in the western suburb of Lombard, Illinois.
But by the time we’d gotten the information we needed, we had less than a week to plan the protest and notify our local activists. On such short notice, it was hard to imagine many would be able to attend.
Incredible Turnout Despite Severe Weather

Friday night, the suburbs saw several inches of snowfall and as the morning progressed, more snow kept coming. This made the odds of a good turnout even lower. But I should know by now not to underestimate our incredible crew of local activists. With the protest scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., I was thrilled to see car after car full of our stalwart activists pulling up.
By the time 1 o’clock rolled around, we had 50 activists on the street. In 10 minutes every sign we brought was deployed. Graphic 2nd trimester abortion signs were interspersed with Stop Abortion Now, Moms for Life and Dads for Life signs. We also had signs custom made reading Med Students Should Heal, NOT KILL.
By protest’s end, hundreds of cars had been alerted to the presence of the nefarious conference and seen the truth about abortion. At the conclusion of the protest, I was pleased to inform everyone about our spy in the conference and alert them to stay tuned to the Pro-Life Hotline for details from inside.
Details of the Conference to Come
As soon as we get a full debriefing we’ll bring all the details from the conference to you here on the blog, along with video from the protest, so check back soon for more.
