Tim MurphyToday in League HistoryOctober 19, 1988—League Staffer Tim Murphy (pictured to the right) infiltrates an emergency meeting of the Emergency Clinic Defense Coalition (ECDC), called in anticipation of the National Day of Rescue. ECDC members mention Tim by name as someone who “lives by his neck” and discuss a picture of him that had appeared on the front page of the Chicago Tribune, showing him being choked at a protest of Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis. Tim had cut his hair and shaved his beard before the meeting and had given a false name, so he was not recognized. But when ECDC members realized they could not verify his identity, they ejected him from the meeting.
