October 2, 2001—The U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals affirms the district court’s ruling against League Director Joe Scheidler in the NOW v. Scheidler racketeering case. The National Organization of Women issues a press release comparing pro-lifers to the terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center a month before. The district court ruling against Scheidler would later be reversed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
